Earlier this month, author Brad Meltzer and illustrator Christopher Eliopoulos headed off on a tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Ordinary People Change the World series, which encourages young readers to relate to important historical figures. The series has been adapted as a PBS series, which launched in 2019. We've gathered highlights from the tour.
On January 9, Meltzer appeared at Barnes & Noble Union Square in New York City for the launch event of his picture book I Am Ruth Bader Ginsburg, illustrated by Christopher Eliopoulos, the latest installment in the Ordinary People Change the World series. Meltzer held a presentation and signed copies of the book for attendees.
More than 300 guests attended Barnes & Noble Tyson’s Corner on January 12 for an event featuring Meltzer (r.), Eliopoulos (l.), and actor Lynda Carter (c.). The trio spoke about I Am Wonder Woman and Carter’s experience playing the fictional superhero in the live-action television series Wonder Woman. After, Meltzer and Eliopoulos held a signing for readers.
Eliopoulos visited Homestead Elementary in Carrollton, Tex., on January 17 and spoke to 150 students in third and fourth grade about the new book.
On January 19, Meltzer, Eliopoulos, and special guest Temple Grandin, a subject in the series, made an appearance at JeffCo Open School in Lakewood, Colo. The event, which included a signing, drew approximately 300 attendees and was hosted in partnership with Second Star to the Right Books.
