Chooseco, the publisher of the Choose Your Own Adventure series, has inked a multiyear sales and distribution deal with Penguin Random House Publisher Services. Effective February 1, PRHPS will sell and distribute Chooseco frontlist and backlist titles across all channels worldwide.

The move is something of a homecoming for the Choose Your Own Adventure series, which was originally launched in 1979 at Bantam Books—an imprint that was acquired by Bertelsmann, which now owns Penguin Random House, in 1980. Chooseco itself was launched in a farmhouse in Waitsfield, Vt., by the late author R.A. Montgomery and his wife and copublisher, Shannon Gilligan, in 2003, to relaunch its emblematic series. The publisher now counts more than 100 titles including board books, picture books, and more, translated into more than 40 languages, among its backlist.

“We've been methodical about maintaining the legacy of the brand, bringing titles back from the original series, and releasing all-new titles, as well as selecting only the best brand partners for our license deals in a variety of spaces,” said Gilligan, Chooseco CEO and publisher, in a statement. “I'm so proud of what our team has accomplished, and I'm thrilled to build upon this foundation with the support of the PRHPS team.”
