Earlier this month, Quarto’s Frances Lincoln Children’s Books imprint revealed the winner of its second annual Children’s Librarian Prize, given in recognition of “children’s or teen librarians in North America who champion diversity and inclusion in their collections and communities.” The 2024 recipient is Tracey Wong, a school media specialist at White Plains High School in White Plains, N.Y.

With more than two decades of classroom experience at the elementary, secondary, and college level, Wong has taught for 13 years with the New York City Department of Education. Among her professional accolades, Wong is a 2021 Macmillan Dear Librarian recipient, a 2018 Library Journal Mover & Shaker, a 2017 Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam recipient, and a 2016 ALA Scholastic Publishing recipient. She blogs about her work and her library at Ms. Wong’s Wonders.

Peter Marley, publisher of Frances Lincoln Children’s Books, said in a statement, “Ms. Wong’s years of hard work in her community and in her library show that she is a true champion of diversity and inclusivity, and her dedication to ensuring free access to books is the epitome of what the prize represents. We are honored to celebrate Ms. Wong through this prize and showcase her important work.”

The Frances Lincoln Children’s Librarian Prize was established in 2023 as a part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the children’s book imprint.
