The National Book Foundation has revealed the 2024 National Book Award longlist for Young People’s Literature. The five finalists will be named on October 1, and the winner will be announced during the 75th awards ceremony on November 20 in New York City.

The 2024 longlist for Young People’s Literature:

Randy Ribay was previously a finalist for Young People’s Literature in 2019. This year’s longlist includes novels by two debut authors, The Great Cool Ranch Dorito in the Sky by Josh Galarza, and Free Period by Ali Terese.

A total of 333 books were submitted for the award. The judges are Brein Lopez (chair), Rose Brock, Huda Fahmy, Leah Johnson, and Mike Jung.
