Earlier this month, mother-daughter collaborators Rachel Renée Russell and Nikki Russell headed out on a book tour to promote Tales from a NOT-SO-Bratty Little Sister, the 16th title in the middle grade series that launched in 2009 and follows the adventures of protagonist Nikki’s adventures through adolescence via diary entries. The duo traveled to five cities in five days, making visits to schools to speak with students as well as bookstore appearances and a festival presentation. Here we round up the highlights.
The Russells kicked off their tour in St. Louis on October 16 with visits to three local elementary schools. Here, the Russells speak during their presentation at Stone Creek Elementary School, organized by Main Street Books.
On October 17, students at Eugene Field Elementary School in Park Ridge, Ill., gave the Russells a warm welcome with a sign ahead of their presentation in partnership with local bookstore The Book Stall. (From l.) Rachel Renée Russell and Nikki Russell pose with a themed sign.

On October 18, Nikki (l.) and Rachel Renée Russell made a school visit at Sunrise Elementary School in Orlando, Fla. Students were able to vote on the subjects of the presentation, and Nikki drew “dork-ified” portraits of students.
