Recently authors received a familiar gift, a film producer made her children’s debut, and collaborators donned pajamas for a storytime.
“No” Way!
Red Balloon Bookshop welcomed Mike Wohnoutka (l.) and David LaRochelle for an event celebrating their new book Mr. Fox’s Game of “No!” (Candlewick) on October 26. Readers are challenged to say “no” to all the titular fox’s question or begin the picture book again. Children’s librarian Kim Faurot presented the duo with an ice cream sundae floral arrangement inspired by an illustration from the book.
From Screen to Page
Film producer and production executive Elysa Dutton (r.) recently celebrated the release of her debut picture book Christmas Forever: Escape to the North Pole (Random House) with a party hosted by Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman and Christy Callahan at their home in Los Angeles. In the picture book, illustrated by Manu Montoya, a group of ornaments are determined to escape their boxes and shine all year long. Seen here, screenwriter Alison Peck (l.) and Dutton enjoying the party.
Pajama Party
Ridgecrest Books in Shoreline, Wash., hosted a pajama storytime for author Debbie S. Miller (r.) and illustrator Michelle Jing Chan (c.), who read their picture book Goodnight Sounds (Bloomsbury). The picture book explores the many sounds that can act as a lullaby for young readers. Here, a bookstore staff member with Chan and Miller during the reading.
