Recently an author took her new book on tour, an author presented the latest installment in her picture book series, and a literary cabaret welcomed a YA author to the stage.
Live ‘Life’
Author Gayle Forman (l.) recently went on tour to celebrate the release of her new YA novel After Life (HarperCollins/Quill Tree). The book follows high school senior Amber, who suddenly discovers she died seven years ago but is still able to communicate with her family. On January 7, Forman visited BookPeople in Austin, Tex., for an event where she held a conversation with fellow author Adam Silvera (r.). Forman’s book tour this month featured discussions with YA authors at most stops, including Libba Bray, Emily Jenkins, and Leah Johnson.
This Author Can!
Sheetal Sheth attended the January 18 launch event for her picture book Anjali Can! (Random House) at P&T Knitwear in New York City. In the new installment to the Always Anjali series, illustrated by Lucia Soto, the titular star must find a way to rescue her local community center. Sheth gave a reading of the book, followed by a q&a and book signing.
Live on Stage
On January 14, YA author Jordyn Taylor made an appearance at Joe’s Pub in New York City for “Seriously Entertaining,” a monthly event series. The literary cabaret is held in conjunction with the House of SpeakEasy. Taylor took to the stage to share her interpretation of the evening’s subject, “This Time Tomorrow.”
