The Children's Book Council and its charitable arm, Every Child a Reader, have announced a partnership to present two new Get Caught Reading posters featuring the winners of the 2024 Brooklyn Public Library staff award, which honors outstanding employees for their service to patrons.
The Get Caught Reading campaign, first launched in 1999 by the Association of American Publishers, promotes the joys of reading year-round. The literary initiative releases a crop of posters featuring authors, illustrators, athletes, and musicians posing with a book. Previous Get Caught Reading posters have featured Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez, Grammy Award-winning musicians Alicia Keys and Queen Latifah, as well as children’s creators such as Tracey Baptiste, Kacen Callender, and Kate DiCamillo.
This new collaboration will spotlight Christina Ferrari, children’s librarian, assistant branch manager at the Bedford Library in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the 2024 Dr. Lucille C. Thomas Award for Excellence in Librarianship recipient; and Felicia Holston-Sloane, Brooklyn Public Library Central clerical operations manager and 2024 Feder Leonard Family Award for Excellence in Service to the Library’s Public recipient.
The CBC and Every Child a Reader will also be donating $500 in children’s books as giveaways at the two work locations of the winners.
