Intel, the giant semiconductor manufacturer, has acquired Kno, a software developer of educational content for multimedia devices, and will make the company a part of Intel Education, a division focused on supporting the educational marketplace’s transition to technology. Kno’s acquisition will give Intel a content library of more than 225,000 digital titles in the Higher Education and K-12 marketplace and represents partnerships with about 75 educational publishers.
John Galvin, v-p of the sales and marketing group at Intel, said, the mission of Intel Education is “to support the rapid technology adoption in the classroom,” and explained that, “the Kno platform provides administrators and teachers with the tools they need to easily assign, manage and monitor their digital learning content and assessments. We’re looking forward to combining our expertise with Kno’s rich content so that together, we can help teachers create classroom environments and personalized learning experiences that lead to student success.”
