Gutenberg Technology, parent company of multimedia e-book publishing platform MyEbookFactory 5.0, has secured $6.5 million in round B funding led by an investment from the venture capital firm of BNP Paridas. The new round of funding includes previous Gutenberg Technology investors and will allow the company to extend its digital book platform beyond the textbook market.
Gutenberg Technology’s MyEbookFactory platform allows textbook publishers to add a wide range of interactive and multimedia-enriched content to textbooks easily and quickly, according to the company’s claims. While the company has focused its efforts on the textbook and education marketplace, including working with such publishers as Pearson and Hachette, the new round of funding will allow the company to move into travel guides, cookbooks and professional training books. GT is also interested in the e-learning category of MOOC (Massive Online Open Course), a growing university driven trend that offers a wide range of courses to students online.
François-Xavier Hussherr, founder and CEO of the New York-based Gutenberg Technology, said, “after almost three years of R&D, we now offer publishers a unique tool to solve their digital issues. Our goal is to empower our clients to take control over their digital book production workflow.”
