Full Fathom Five, the company launched by writer James Frey in 2009 to package YA novels and series, announced the creation of an online publishing division, Full Fathom Five Digital. The venture will be overseen by the newly appointed director of digital publishing Samantha Streger, who joined the company in April from Open Road.
FFF Digital will kick off with Amanda Black's The Apartment, the first in her adult romance series, on October 1, with a new e-book scheduled to be released every following Wednesday through the end of the year.
The imprint's focus is, per FFF, to "provide creative possibilities for e-books that wouldn't fit into a traditional model," broadening the reach of individual projects into film and television. “We are really excited for the launch of FFF Digital,” said Frey. “We are looking forward to discovering unconventional projects that have the potential to connect with a wider community of readers that haven’t been available to them before.”
As part of the launch, FFF is hosting a fiction contest, offering $10,000 and a book publication contract. The contest runs from October 1 to November 30.
