Former Barnes & Noble v-p of digital content Theresa Horner is joining Scribd as v-p of strategy and new content verticals.
Horner worked for B&N from 2008 until 2014, when she left the company amid a wave of layoffs in its Nook e-book division. Horner was instrumental in building the Nook division’s content strategy, managing B&N’s global e-book business and overseeing the development, operations and publisher relations in the Nook division.
A spokesperson for Scribd said Horner has “a strong track record of building content catalogs and products based on the changing tides of the publishing and retail business as well as consumer reading behaviors.” Prior to joining B&N, Horner worked for HarperCollins and Microsoft.
Describing Horner as a “respected veteran of the publishing world,” Scribd said “she’s been at the forefront of the massive changes that new technologies have brought to the publishing industry, and we’re thrilled to have her joining our team."
