E-book retailer Kobo is teaming with the National Book Store, a 150-store chain in the Philippines, to introduce its suite of digital reading devices and its e-book retailing and self-publishing platforms. The Kobo Glo and Kobo Touch e-ink readers and Kobo Arc tablet will be sold exclusively through selected National Book Store outlets and the company’s site, NationalBookStore.com.
The Kobo/National Book Store retailer partnership is the first in the growing but still developing e-book market of the Philippines. “Digital reading is only just emerging in the Philippines,” said Todd Humphrey, Kobo executive v-p of business development. “With Kobo and National Book Store, consumers can—for or the first time ever—access a world of international content and look forward to their local authors and publishers making their work available in digital formats. We are committed to delivering a world-class eReading experience to the Filipino market.”
Xandra Ramos-Padilla, purchasing director, National Book Store, said “National Book Store takes pride in being the first to bring Kobo’s world class digital reading experience to the Philippines. These cutting edge e-readers will certainly provide a new way for Filipino students and book lovers to enjoy books, magazines and newspapers.”
