As Scholastic gets closer to launching a proprietary e-book distribution channel, it has signed an agreement with Sourcebooks to carry that publisher’s children’s e-books over the platform. Scholastic Book Clubs expects to launch the e-reading application later this fall. A spokesperson said Scholastic has signed some smaller deals with other houses and is working with other publishers to offer their front- and backlist titles on the new e-reading application as well.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this effort to provide teachers and parents with an incredible new tool to meet kids where they are on the electronic devices they love and make reading even more fun,” said Dominique Raccah, CEO of Sourcebooks. Among the first Sourcebooks titles to be offered through the Scholastic e-reading application will be the bestselling Horrid Henry series by Francesca Simon, Dream Big, Little Pig by Kristi Yamaguchi, and the picture book, I Love You More by Laura Duksta.
