Amazon may be changing its stance on selling e-books from its publishing division exclusively through its own site. Asked whether its decision to sell forthcoming biographies acquired by James Atlas through all e-tailers reflected a change in its stance on exclusivity, a spokesperson told PW “we’ll have to ask you to stay tuned.” Until now, Amazon has sold titles from its publishing division only on Amazon.com, a decision that has prompted bricks-and-mortar stores, including Barnes & Noble, to institute a policy that they will not carry physical copies of because they cannot also sell the e-book edition.
