Ansari and Penguin Get Romantic
Comedian and television actor Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation) will narrate his new book, Modern Romance, for Penguin Audio. The book, written with NYU sociologist Eric Klinenberg, explores “mating and breaking up in the age of the selfie,” said the publisher. The audiobook goes on sale June 16.
Hachette Sets the ‘Gold Standard’
Last month, Hachette Audio brought Ari Gold, the character from HBO’s Entourage (as played by Jeremy Piven), into the studios to record his new book, The Gold Standard: Rules to Rule By. According to Hachette, the book will draw from Gold’s years in the Hollywood agency scene and offer tips on how to be “as successful in work and in life as Gold himself.” Hachette Books will release the hardcover on May 12, and the audiobook will go on sale June 2, one day before the premiere of the Entourage film.
Collins Calls on Poitier for Macmillan
Jackie Collins was in the booth recording the audiobook for her new book, The Santangelos, alongside January LaVoy, Ari Fliakos, and Sydney Tamiia Poitier, daughter of screen legend Sidney Poitier. Poitier also co-narrated Collins’s Lovers & Players and The Power Trip, among others. The Santangelos “chronicles passion and power in one of America’s most glamorous families” and goes on sale June 16.
Griffith, Zimmerman Take on Ebola Survival Tale at Christian Audio
Narrators Kaleo Griffith and Sarah Zimmerman recorded Called for Life: How Loving Our Neighbor Led Us into the Heart of the Ebola Epidemic, by Kent and Amber Brantly, for Christian Audio. In the book, Kent, the American doctor working in Liberia who became the first patient treated for Ebola in the U.S., and his wife, Amber, detail Kent’s evacuation from Africa and his subsequent care and full recovery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. WaterBrook will release the book in hardcover on July 21, alongside Christian Audio’s audiobook release.
