Indie publisher Melville House will publish the winner of the first Paris Literary Prize competition, sponsored by the historic Shakespeare and Company bookstore in Paris and the de Groot Foundation. The competition seeks submissions of 20,000-30,000 works of fiction by December 18.

One winning novella will be selected by a panel of judges composed of writers Breyten Bretenback, Erica Wagner, Darin Strauss, and Melville House Publisher Dennis Loy Johnson. The winner will be announced on June 16, 2011. The winning novella will be published by Melville House and the winner will receive 10,000€.
