The Board of the National Book Foundation has awarded its third annual Innovations in Reading Prizes. The winners are Burton Freeman, whose My Own Book program gives students $50 each to purchase books and start their own private libraries; Kore Press, a publishing company that runs an after-school literary activism workshop for young women and initiates activities that integrate literature into daily life on high school and university campuses; Electric Literature/Electric Publisher, a quarterly journal and publisher that distributes and delivers short fiction in every viable format, from paperback to the iPad; and YARN, the Young Adult Review Network, an online journal featuring original writing by young-adult authors and teens.

Each winner will receive $2,500 and a framed certificate.
