The New York Public Library has released the list of nominees for its Young Lions Fiction Award. The award, which is now in its seventh year, is given for a novel or collection of stories by a writer under 35 years old; it comes with a $10,000 prize. The library's Young Lions is a membership group for library supporters in their 20s and 30s, co-founded by actor Ethan Hawke.

Nominees are chosen by a committee of editors, writers and Young Lions members. This year's winner will selected by a panel composed of author and reviewer Kathryn Harrison, author Jeff Talarigo and last year's winner, Uzodinma Iweala. Other previous winners include Jonathan Safran Foer, Monique Truong, Anthony Doerr and Colson Whitehead.
