Publishers Weekly has announced the top 45 honorees for the 2017 PW Star Watch award from a pool of more than 200 submissions. Founded in 2015 in partnership with the Frankfurt Book Fair, the award celebrates gifted young members of the U.S. publishing community. (Click here for the full list of honorees.)
Five finalists for the award will be named in the September 4 issue of Publishers Weekly, and one "Superstar" will be named at the annual PW Star Watch Celebration in New York on September 6 at the TAO Downtown Nightclub in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. The Superstar will be awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to the Frankfurt Book Fair, held this year from October 11-13, along with an all-access pass to the Frankfurt Book Fair Business Club.
“PW Star Watch has become a proven avenue for identifying and celebrating up-and-coming talent within the bookselling and publishing industries,” Jim Milliot, editorial director of PW, said in a statement. “The profession is thriving with creative newcomers who lend their voices to the future of books.”
Previous PW Star Watch Superstars include Andrew Harwell, senior editor at HarperCollins Children’s Books, in 2016, and Helen Yentus, art director at Riverhead Books, in 2015.
