Jumping Jack Press, an imprint of Up with Paper, is taking a fresh approach to the classic holiday tale, The Nutcracker, with a pop-up book featuring illustrations by Neiko Ng, pop-ups from award-winning paper engineer Yevgeniya Yeretskaya, and a story by Jessica Southwick. In an interview with the YouTube channel Best Pop-Up Books, Yeretskaya shared her enthusiasm about The Nutcracker: “I’m very excited about this subject, because it combines my love of strange fairy tales with a lifelong appreciation of theater and ballet.”

Each of the seven brightly illustrated pop-up spreads showcases an elaborate scene with intricate details. Among the spreads are a sumptuously decorated Christmas tree and a full 360-degree pop-up of a swan-shaped boat, as well as pull-tab interactive components that move characters back and forth in a battle scene.
