Actor and producer Oscar Isaac will appear at the U.S. Book Show on Tuesday, May 24 to discuss Head Wounds: Sparrow, a neo-noir graphic novel from Legendary Comics, developed by Isaac and Jason Spire.
Isaac will participate in a one-on-one interview with Heidi MacDonald, editor of the Beat and co-host of PW Comics World: More to Come podcast. Due out in August 2022, Head Wounds: Sparrow is Isaac’s first book, presented in conjunction with creator Robert Johnson with story by John Alvey. It was developed by Isaac and Jason Spire and written by best-selling writer Brian Buccellato with art by Eisner-winner Christian Ward. Legendary Comics will also host Buccellato at its virtual exhibit booth.
Head Wounds: Sparrow follows Guidry, a crooked Louisiana detective at the center of a battle between good and evil. Guidry psychically suffers the wounds of those he’s sworn to protect until he brings their assailants to justice. When his best friend is shot in front of him, he wakes up with a hole in his own head that only he can see, and a host of mysterious strangers calling on him for action.
“I think there is something about this particular medium that allows such incredible world building and allows you to really express and juxtapose ideas that you can’t in other mediums,” said Isaac. “Marrying my love of comics with this specific form of storytelling, I am excited to bring Head Wounds: Sparrow to fans.”
