Humorist David Sedaris will open the U.S. Book Show on May 23, livestreaming from Publishers Weekly's office in Manhattan.
The half-hour livestream will begin at 2:00 p.m. ET. Sedaris will be interviewed by Little Brown's Katharine Myers about his latest book, Happy-Go-Lucky, a collection of essays, due out May 31 from LB. In its review, PW said that “Sedaris has a knack for finding where the blithe and innocent intersect with the tawdry and lurid.”
The author of 13 books, Sedaris won the Thurber Prize for American Humor in 2001 for Me Talk Pretty One Day; a subsequent book, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, topped bestseller lists. Prior, he made his name on NPR’s Morning Edition and This American Life. He is an essayist for the New Yorker, and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2019.
“David Sedaris is the perfect person to warm up the book trade, which is often in need of some humor,” Jim Milliot, editorial director of Publishers Weekly, said in a statement.
