Brad Thor, whose novel The First Commandment was a New York Times bestseller last summer, has just signed with publisher Atria for three more books. Emily Bestler bought world English rights from Heide Lange, and Pocket will publish in paperback. The three new titles will be the eighth, ninth and tenth Thor books to feature ex-Navy SEAL Scot Harvath; Atria has one Scot Harvath thriller still under contract from a previous deal, and that book, The Last Patriot, will come out this summer.

Film rights to Thor’s Harvath novels were optioned last summer to Steven Paul at Crystal Sky Pictures, and production is to begin with the third book in the series, State of the Union.

Thor’s past involvement with the Department of Homeland Security’s “Red Cell,” a group of writers and artists commissioned to dream up terrorist scenarios for the U.S. government, has made him a popular guest on TV and radio news programs of late. Last fall, Thor delivered daily segments during a weeklong special report on terrorism for The Glenn Beck Show on CNN Headline News. Previously, Thor studied creative writing at USC under T. C. Boyle.
