Ending a week and a half of fierce bidding and speculation, the Karl Rove book auction is now over, according to a source with knowledge of negotiations. Two publishers, one of which is Simon and Schuster's conservative Threshold imprint, are presently awaiting a decision. A representative from the Penguin Press would neither confirm nor deny that the imprint was still in the mix. Attorney Bob Barnett, who is handling negotiations for Rove, said he couldn't comment until the process was over.
