McGraw-Hill is not the only publisher accelerating a title associated with the late UCLA basketball coach John Wooden. Regal, the publishing imprint of Gospel Light, plans to release The Greatest Coach Ever: Timeless Wisdom and Insights of John Wooden this July after originally planning to publish the title in the fall. Greatest is being created by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and includes tributes from 52 coaches and athletes who were influenced by Wooden and his Pyramid of Success philosophy. Among the contributors are Tony Dungy, Joe Girardi, Bobby Bowden and Mike Singletary.
Regal has published three other books with Wooden and co-author Jay Carty, including Coach Wooden One-on-One which has more than 100,000 copies in print. Greatest will be released as a $12.95 trade paperback; print run has not yet been set.
