Pursuit of Honor author Vince Flynn, one of Simon & Schuster's most successful writers, has signed a two-book deal with Atria and Pocket, for a new series featuring a New York City anti-terror operation that Flynn will co-write with retired writer and U.S. Army lieutenant colonel Brian Haig.

Flynn, whose latest novel, American Assassin, Atria will publish on October 12, said the series covers a story he has “wanted to tell for many years…. Teaming up with Brian Haig will afford me the opportunity to pursue this without keeping readers waiting for my next Mitch Rapp novel.” Haig spent 22 years on active duty before retiring in 1997 and going into private business. He is the author of eight novels, including Capitol Game, which Grand Central will publish August 12. Flynn said, “I’ve been a fan of Brian’s writing since his first book, Secret Sanction. I think he’s one of the best storytellers in America today, and I’m really excited to join forces with him on this exciting project.”

Atria v-p and executive editorial director Emily Bestler acquired world, Audio Book Club, large print, first serial and electronic rights to the new series from Sloan Harris at ICM. Pocket will be the paperback publisher of both books, which will also be available from Simon & Schuster Audio.
