Penguin's Portfolio imprint acquired world rights to a memoir by retired general Stanley McChrystal. McChrsytal is the former commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan and his book, which is currently untitled, is scheduled for 2012. Portfolio president Adrian Zackheim brokered the deal with lawyer Robert Barnett, of Williams & Connolly.

Speaking about the book, Zackheim said that "few people know who General Stan McChrystal really is...nor do people realize what a fascinating career he had for 38 years in the Army and what he can teach all of us about effective leadership under extreme pressure."

McChrystal, who also emphasized he will focus on the theme leadership, now serves on the board of the Yellow Ribbon Foundation, which offers aid to wounded veterans. A portion of proceeds from the book with be donated to Yellow Ribbon.
