Alice Hoffman is moving to Scribner. The house will publish Hoffman’s next novel, The Dovekeepers, on October 4. Evp and publisher Susan Moldow and svp and editor-in-chief Nan Graham, who will be Hoffman’s editor, acquired the book from Elaine Markson of the Markson Thoma Literary Agency. S&S U.K. will publish The Dovekeepers simultaneously with the U.S. release, and S&S Audio will produce the audio edition.

Hoffman had previously been with Random House; most recently, Broadway did a reprint of The Story Sisters in 2010, and Crown published The Red Garden earlier this year.

Set in ancient Israel, The Dovekeepers imagines the Romans’ siege of Masada. Toni Morrison has called the book “a major contribution to 21st-century literature.”
