In a notable book deal this week, NYU Dean of Social Sciences (and author of Honky), Dalton Conley, sold a currently untitled work that's being called part parenting guide and part science book. Anjali Singh and Jonathan Karp at S&S acquired the book from agent Sydelle Kramer at Susan Rabiner.
Rabiner called the book "half memoir/half sceince narrative," and, in it, Conley tackles his measured approach to child-rearing. Kramer elaborated, saying that Conley shares his experiences raising his two children, and how he "placed his faith in cutting-edge research, the scientific method, and experimentation" in order to ultimately make his kids "the loving, kind, contented, and successful people all parents hope their children will be." S&S said it's planning to publish the book in early 2014.
