Through an agreement that will expand ICM's client list, the agency has struck a partnership with the Washington, D.C.-based firm, Sagalyn Agency. The deal, which is not an acquisition, will see Sagalyn renamed ICM/Sagalyn and its clients, which number over 100 authors, will now have their film/TV/media rights handled by ICM. Moving forward, agents from both firms will co-sign clients.
Sagalyn, founded by Raphael Sagalyn, has clients such as Rajiv Chandrasekaran (an NBA finalist), Dan Pink, Howard Kurtz, Franklin Foer and Ross Douthat. The two agencies said the partnership was spurred by the opportunity for each company to gain a strength in an area where it is underserved. For ICM, the Sagalyn Agency brings in a client base, with closer ties to the Beltway and, therefore, an especially strong collection of authors writing about politics. For Sagalyn, ICM brings better access to Hollywood. As ICM explained, in a statement: "Our venture with The Sagalyn Agency allows us to broaden our base of representation with clients of equal stature. We have long admired Rafe, who meticulously built his business into a market leader in Washington, D.C."
