David Zinczenko has purchased his first book for his new imprint at Ballantine Bantam Dell, Zinc Ink. The former Men's Health editor has acquired tennis star Novak Djokovic's Serve to Win, which BBD said will be a "nutrition-based performance guide." This deal follows the multi-platform agreement Zinczenko struck with Random House, calling for him to oversee his own health-oriented imprint and to write a handful of his own books.
Serve to Win is scheduled, in all formats, for August 20, to coincide with the U.S. Open. Scott Waxman at Waxman Leavall, and Sandy Montag at IMG, brokered the deal for Djokovic. The book will piggyback on Djokovic's much-publicized discussions about how changing his diet and going gluten-free dramatically improved his performance on the court. In the announcement about the book, Djokovic said: "Finding the right foods for my body has made me lighter, healthier, and more focused. It’s made all the difference in my career and in my life, and in the lives of the people around me."
