Little, Brown has acquired seven sports-related titles written by George Plimpton in a deal made with the late journalist’s estate. Executive editor John Parsley signed the titles in a deal that will see the seven books appear in new print editions as well as in e-book for the first time. The titles, which will include new material, will be released in 2015.
The seven titles are Paper Lion, Out of My League, The Bogey Man, Mad Ducks and Bears, Shadow Box, Open Net, and One for the Record and span 25 years of Plimpton’s career. The Plimpton estate was represented by Will Lippincott and Ethan Bassoff of Lippincott Massie McQuilkin.
In commenting on the deal, Parsley said, “George Plimpton was a singular man and a writer whom so many of us cite as a formative influence—maybe even the formative influence—for our work. He let us experience so much through his own eyes, hands, sore shoulders, and busted ankles, and we are deeply thrilled to bring his remarkable books about sports to Little, Brown, where they will be published as e-books for the first time, as well as in gorgeous new print editions.”
