Hachette Books has acquired a book by "Hollywood powerhouse agent" Ari Gold, a character from the HBO series Entourage, played by Jeremy Piven. The Gold Standard: Rules to Rule By is slated for May 12, 2015, to coincide with the release of the film Entourage, in June 2015.
The book, will, according to the publisher, draw from Gold’s years in the Hollywood agency scene, and offer tips on how to be "as successful in work and in life as Gold himself." Gold was, per Hachette, "known for his ruthless approach to deal-making and client relationships that made him one of, if not the, most powerful and sought-after agents in Hollywood." He "retired" in 2011.
“In my humble opinion, if you want to run a successful business this is the only book you’ll ever have to read," said Gold. "And my humble opinion is never wrong.”
Mauro DiPreta, publisher of Hachette Books, announced the acquisition for the new division, formed in spring 2014. He will also be editing the book.
DiPreta said, "You can read Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill and Stephen Covey, but no one can give you the real world experience on how to succeed like Ari Gold."
