Unit Sales Inched Up in First Half of 2015
Sales of print books for the first six months of 2015 were running just about even with the same period in 2014 at outlets that report to Nielsen BookScan. Units inched up 0.3% in the period, to more than 286 million.

Despite Sales Drop, B&N Had Fiscal 2015 Profit
Barnes & Noble posted net income of $36.6 million in the fiscal year ended May 2, 2015 compared to a loss of $47.3 million in fiscal 2014. The profit improvement came despite a 4.9% decline in total revenue.

Summer 2015: Indies See Strong Sales Ahead
It wouldn’t be summer without a big vacation read. This year, two came to the fore in PW’s seasonal survey of indie booksellers: E.L. James’s Grey, published last week, which retells Fifty Shades of Grey from Christian Grey’s point of view, and Pulitzer Prize–winning author Harper Lee’s long-lost novel, Go Set a Watchman, due out July 14.
