Borders Group is laying off about 100 more workers in La Vergne, Tenn. distribution center. “We are in the process of reorganizing core areas of our business around key strategic objectives to transform the Borders brand,” Borders spokeswoman Mary Davis said in an e-mail to the Nashville Business Journal. “As part of this effort, we are making changes to our staffing levels to make sure the right people are in the right spots and positions and resources are aligned with our strategic objectives.”
Earlier this year, Borders cut approximately 100 positions from the warehouse.
The layoffs come amid lots of chatter on employee Web sites about more possible cuts at Borders stores. A spokesperson said Borders does not comment on rumors.
