Publishers Group West is adding five new distribution clients this fall and winter, including one next week, the U.K.-based startup Visual Editions, which it will represent in both the U.S. and Canada. Visual Editions’s first list includes a new novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, Tree of Codes, as well as a new edition of Laurence Sterne’s The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman, with an introduction by Will Self. The press, which focuses on design, will publish four fiction and nonfiction titles a year.

On the first of the year PGW reps will begin carrying books from the publishing division of the American Diabetes Association. The 60-year old press has a backlist of 100 titles and will publish ten titles in the spring. In January, PGW will take over distribution for New York City-based Fang Duff Kahn Publishers when it launches a new edition of City Secrets: Rome, part of its City Secrets guidebook series. Also at the start of the year PGW will handle distribution for the third edition of Peter Glickman’s Lose Weight, Have More Energy, and Be Happier in 10 Days, a master cleanse bible from Peter Glickman, Inc.

Then in March PGW will add Ann Arbor-based Mandy & Pandy, a bilingual English-Chinese children’s book publisher founded by Christopher Lin. He began publishing books to teach children Chinese phrases and vocabulary four years ago, after adopting a daughter from China in 2004.

In other distribution news, music print publisher Hal Leonard Corp. will be represented to the trade in Canada by Login Canada starting now. Login will distribute HLC’s fall frontlist of nearly 50 titles from Hal Leonard Books and various other imprints, including Amadeus Press, Applause Theatre & Cinema Books, Backbeat Books, and Limelight Editions.
