Follett Higher Education Group is moving the headquarters for its wholesale and virtual bookstore businesses to a new distribution center to open soon in Aurora, Ill. It will close its current distribution center in River Grove, Ill., which has been processing five million more units than the facility’s original capacity.

The new 550,000 sq. ft. facility will have 38 shipping/receiving docks and is capable of processing 16 million inbound units annually. It will feature material handling technology from Kiva Systems, as well as hundred of mobile robots that will pick up and move inventory pods directly to order pickers.

“This is one of many investments Follett is making to provide even better service to our customers,” said Tom Christopher, president of FHEG. “Our new facility will continue to promote our mission of helping our brick-and-mortar and online stores become world-class academic retailers.”
