Random House has started an expedited delivery program for independent booksellers during the holiday season that it is calling "2-Day Transit." Under the program, which is running from November 21 through January 12, orders received by 3 p.m. EST will leave RH’s distribution centers no later than the next business day and be at stores in two days or less after leaving the DCs. All adult and children's frontlist and backlist hardcovers, paperbacks, and audios are part of the program.

RH said the initiative is part of its effort to support print books and physical stores during the busiest shopping time of the year. It is picking up the extra expedited shipping costs and its usual minimum orders apply. “We also hope our two-day shipping will result in bookstore staff spending less time on a backroom computer figuring out where and when to order stock, and instead more hours on the selling floor, assisting customers, recommending and handselling Random House books, and better enabling a profitable holiday season,” said Ruth Liebmann, v-p, director, account marketing for RH.
