After closing 14 bookstores and opening none in fiscal 2012, Barnes & Noble said this morning that it will open five stores this year, while closing 15. Although no details were available this morning, B&N said the new stores will feature a new format. Comparable store sales at existing stores in the new fiscal year are expected to fall in low to mid single digits in the year. The decline will be due to continued shift to e-books as well as stronger than expected lift from the closing of Borders which won’t be repeated again this year.
