Unit sales of print books rose 7% in the week ended Sept. 14, 2014, compared to the similar week last year, at outlets that report to Nielsen BookScan. Sales rose in three of the four major categories, falling only in adult fiction, where the decline was just 1%. The retail & club channel had a particularly good week, with sales up 8%. The biggest increase was in juvenile nonfiction, where Minecraft titles again led the way. Unit sales increased 17% in juvenile fiction, with If I Stay and The Fault in Our Stars running first and second, respectively, for the second consecutive week. The 5% increase in the adult nonfiction category was driven by three new titles that took the three top spots on the list: Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success by Steve Harvey was the top adult nonfiction title, selling just under 26,000 copies at outlets that report to BookScan. 13 Hours, by Mitchell Zuckoff, and Blue Ribbon Baking from a Redneck Kitchen, by Francine Bryson, followed Success, selling approximately 24,500 and 19,500 copies, respectively. Festive in Death, by J.D. Robb, was the top-selling new fiction title in the week, although it came in at #3 overall in adult fiction.
