Six-year-old Greenlight Bookstore in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn will open a second bookstore in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens neighborhood next year. The 2,100 sq. ft. store will be located in a 23-story mixed use building at 626 Flatbush Avenue.
Like the Fort Greene store, owners Rebecca Fitting, a Prospect Lefferts Gardens resident, and Jessica Stockton Bagnulo plan to tailor their new location to the community. As part of this effort, they will regularly partner with local institutions on community events.
“Our business is ready to grow, and our hope is that by opening a bookstore in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, we are contributing to the community in a positive, constructive way," Fitting said. "Right now neighborhood residents have to travel pretty far afield to buy a book.”
Greenlight has already begun testing the bookselling waters in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Last month it opened a pop-up store inside Play Kids! there.
