Candlewick Press is the latest publisher to cook up special offers for independent bookstores transitioning away from Baker & Taylor as it shutters its retail wholesale business.
Candlewick's long-standing programs CHIRP, which supports indie handselling, and CHIRP Evergreen, which supports promotion of backlist titles, as well as a special program for new stores, will remain in place. In addition, Candlewick offers indies the following:
- A seasonal backlist stock offer, providing additional discount and dating, now with a reduced unit minimum and availability multiple times per season
- The Top 150 for Indies catalog, which lists titles eligible for this offer, is now live on Edelweiss
- A new wholesale offer for indie bookstores that have book fair adjuncts.
- Participation as a client publisher in PRH’s “Indie Express” program for bookstores that had been ordering exclusively from B&T
