In Baltimore, Md., the Ivy Bookshop is moving, but only two blocks away. Emma Snyder purchased the 19-year-old bookstore in January and will be moving it into the former Divine Life Church, which she recently acquired. The former church has 2,700 sq.. ft. of space space, including a basement, and is situated on 2.5 acres of land, which currently includes a meditation garden.
“The first floor will function as a traditional bookstore and is coincidentally about the same size as the former space at 1,750 sq.-ft., but will also include a coffee bar, integrate unique nooks and crannies where people can become lost reading a book and feature large windows with adjacent seats,” Snyder said, adding the store will expand its community outreach in the new space. “Large social spaces will also be a key element to support the more than 125 in-store events that we plan to sponsor annually.”
The new location is expected to be open for business in the spring of next year.
