Unit sales of print books rose 2.8% last week compared to the week ended February 13, 2021, at outlets that report to NPD BookScan. The increase was the first weekly sales gain this year.

Sales in the adult nonfiction category fell again, but the 0.8% drop was the smallest decline this year. The segment also had the week’s #1 seller in Life Force by Tony Robbins, which sold more than 90,000 copies in its first week on sale. Another new release, Living Fully by Mallory Ervin, landed in the fourth spot on the category list, selling almost 17,000 copies.

The adult fiction category had another good week with sales up 16.9%. J.D. Robb’s Abandoned in Death was #1 in the category, selling more than 31,000 copies in its first week on sale. In seventh place on the category list was The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas, which sold almost 17,000 copies. Colleen Hoover had four books in the top 10, which sold a total of more than 95,000 copies.

Juvenile fiction sales ended a losing streak with sales up 1.5% last week. Alice Schertle’s Little Blue Truck’s Valentine stayed #1 in the category, selling over 57,000 copies. Backlist titles dominated the top of bestsellers last week.

Unit sales in the young adult fiction rose 13.3% over 2021. Scott Cawthon’s The Fourth Closet was #1, selling more than 12,000 copies.
