U.K. online book retailer Books2Door, which primarily offers discounted and remaindered books, reported six-month sales of £2.7 million, a 38% increase over the first half of 2023. A key driver of sales, the company said, has been TikTok.

Since it launched its TikTok Shop in March 2023, Books2Door has generated over £401,000 in sales, and the company appointed Tindy Kaur its TikTok manager to bolster its social presence and to drive new revenue. Another contributor to the sales improvement was recently introduced book box subscriptions.

To accommodate its growth, Books2Door recently opened a third warehouse, which will hold additional book stock and offer office space for some 18 new employees. The company also invested over £30,000 in equipment for an onsite TikTok Studio.

Looking ahead, future plans include a Schools on Tour initiative to bring storytellers to primary school classrooms, supporting the government's 'Reading for Pleasure' framework and encouraging a love for reading.

"2024 has been our strongest year to date, and we're only half way through," Abdul Thadka, founder of Books2Door, said in a statement. "Bring on the next six months!"
