    Book seven of Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, The Third Wheel, has passed the million mark in physical copies sold, according to Nielsen BookScan. The book will end the year as the #6 bestselling book of the year, placing behind only the Fifty Shades trilogy, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay.

    DC Entertainment has promoted longtime Vertigo editor Shelly Bond to executive editor of its Vertigo imprint, succeeding former senior v-p and executive editor Karen Berger, who is stepping down after directing Vertigo for nearly 20 years.

  • Dave Sim Brings Cerebus into the Digital Age

    In November, Diamond Digital, the digital comics program of Diamond Comic Distributors, began releasing all 25 chapters of Cerebus: High Society, the second volume of Dave Sim’s (and artist Gerhard’s) groundbreaking self-published graphic novel series, on a weekly basis that will continue through March 2013. This is the latest of several publishing moves around Sim and the Cerebus series.

  • Panel Mania: Barrel of Monkeys

    Barrel of Monkeys is the first full length work published in English by the French comics duo Florent Ruppert and Jermoe Mulot, and it is also the debut book from the new avant-garde comics publisher Rebus Books. Barrel of Monkeys is a surrealistic dark comedy which employs innovative formal techniques.

  • Panel Mania: Sumo

    Scott is a washed-up football player who has also been abandoned by his girlfriend. When he is offered a position in a Japanese sumo training "stable," Scott embarks on a new chapter in his life. Sumo is written and drawn by Thien Pham, who also illustrated Gene Yang's Level Up. First Second will release Sumo in December.
