IGN.com at NYCC
New York Comic Con has announced that the special events hall of the Jacob Javits center will be the IGN.com (http://www.ign.com/) Theater at this year's convention. Movie premiers and previews, Guest of Honor appearances, and music performances will take place at the IGN.com Theater. New Line Cinema will preview its upcoming films Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D. NYCC will take place April 18-20 at the Jacob Javits center. Exhibit on Race in Comics
The exhibition "The Color of Comics: A Look at the Images of People of Color in Comics" is opening at the Bronx Community College in the Bliss Hall Art Gallery. The exhibition opened February 4 and will remain up until March 14. The show is curated by Eugene Adams and Kids Comic-con organizer Alex Simmons. There will be an opening reception Friday February 8 from 5 to 7 PM, and another reception on Wednesday February 13 from 12 to 2 PM. More information can be found at Alex Simmons website.

Kennedy Center Spotlights Japan
Viz Media announced plans to participate in Japan! Culture + Hyper Culture, an exhibition slated to run February 5-17 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. The Exhibition will highlight Japanese creative culture from manga and anime to literature, dance, photography and theater. The event will bring together more than 450 artists of all kinds working in a variety of media and formats. Viz will be on hand to sponsor a Manga Café and Reading Lounge. EssexCountyWins Alex Award
Jeff Lemire's Essex County Vol. 1: Tales from the Farm has won the 2008 Alex Award. The Alex Award is given by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) to adult books with teen appeal. A preview of Essex County: Tales from the Farm can be viewed at the Top Shelf website.

Stumptown Comics Festival
Submissions are now being accepted for the 2008 Stumptown Comics Trophy Awards. Nominations for the awards can be made from January 29 to April 10, and the work being submitted must have been released between October 1, 2007 and April 26, 2008. More information about nominating and guidelines can be found at the Stumptown Comics Fest website. There is a five dollar administrative fee for each category entered. The winners will be announced at an awards party on April 26, 2008 at Cosmic Monkey Comics in Portland, OR. The Stumptown Comics Fest will be held April 26 — 27, 2008 at the Lloyd Center Doubletree.

Pulitzer Winners in MAD
Ten Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonists will have a cartoon in the March issue of MAD Magazine, which will go on sale February 19. Each cartoonist will illustrate a one panel cartoon to accompany an article by Jacob Lambert. The cartoons will address "Why George W. Bush is in favor of global warming." The Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonists who will be featured are Clay Bennett, Steve Breen, Matt Davies, Jack Higgins, Dick Locher, Jim Morin, Mike Peters, Joel Pett, Michael Ramirez, and Ben Sargent.

Cartoonists on NPR
Adrian Tomine was interviewed on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross on January 31. Tomine discussed his new book Shortcomings and his earlier comics' works. The segment can be listened to on the NPR website. Also, Jeff Kinney author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, was on NPR's All Things Considered on Saturday February 2. Iron Man Super Bowl Spot
The Iron Man movie spot which aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday can be viewed at Marvel.com. The Iron Man movie, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, will be released May 2, 2008.
