Neal Adams NYCC Quest of Honor
Neal Adams will be a Guest of Honor at the upcoming New York Comic Con. Also, Adams has created the official artwork for the show; the poster he made for NYCC features characters from DC’s Green Lantern Corps. NYCC will be held at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City on February 6-8.

2009 Glyph Awards Submissions
Submissions for the 2009 Glyph Comics Awards are now being accepted for comics released in the calendar year 2008. The Glyph Comics Awards are presented each year to the best comics featuring black characters or focused on black themed materials or subjects. The awards are not to limited to black creators and are open to submissions from creators of any background. The Glyph Comics Awards are presented each year at the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention in Philadelphia, next year to be held in May 2009. Changes at Newsarama
Two years after Blog@Newsarma’s inception, the current crew and contributors announced they are leaving the comics news site Newsarma as of November 30, and a new crew takes over on December 1. Newsarma has been undergoing changes since it was bought by its current parent company Imaginova, and according to J.K. Parkin, one of the previous contributors of the blog, “there’s been a lot of growing pains.” Parkin also claimed the old blog@Newsarma crew will begin working together again next year.

Help Rich Faber
Due to his wife’s diagnosis of metastatic melanoma, Rich Faber, a cartoonist and illustrator, in an effort to raise funds, is selling fifteen years worth of comic book art. Also, Faber is looking to take on extra commission work and is selling t-shirts. Faber is also offering signing comic books of his work to any one who donates money at any amount. New Ardden Comic Series

announced Avengers/Invaders writer Jim Krueger will write a four issue comic series, The Stand-In, for them. Alex Cal, the artist for The Amazing Spider-Man Family, will do the art for the comic. The Stand-In revolves around an out of work actor who becomes a “stand-in” for a senator, and in then involved in an assassination attempt. Ardden will debut the book at New York Comic Con in February 2009 with The Stand-In #0, which is a prequel to the series. Ardden plans on announcing more books leading up to New York Comic Con.

Bluewater Plans Poe Comic
Bluewater Productions
has made a deal with Hand Made Heroes Film & Television to produce a comic book based on their short stop motion animated filmRay Harryhausen Presents: The Pit and the Pendulum. The film, based on Edgar Allen Poe’s poem, has been screened at numerous film festivals and comic conventions, including San Diego Comic Con. The Bluewater comic will incorporate images directly from the film and Poe’s original text. The comic is scheduled to be released in February of 2009.

Gene Colan Retrospective
The Cartoon Art Museum
in San Francisco is holding a reception for a retrospective of Gene Colan, “Colan: Visions of a Man without Fear.” The opening reception will be on Thursday December 4from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Colan and his wife, Adrienne, will be guests at the reception. The exhibition features 40 works form Colan’s career, and Glen David Gold, a guest curator at the museum, assembled it. Colon will also have an event at Lee’s Comics in Mountain View, California on December 6th from 2 to 4 p.m.; Steve Leialoha, Colon’s inker on many projects, will also be present.

Anders Nilsen Exhibition
Anders Nilsen, author of Big Questions and Dogs & Water, has a new exhibition, “Landscapes and Smoke,” at the Little Bird Gallery in Los Angeles, California. There will be a reception on December 6 from 7 to 10 p.m. The exhibition runs through January 14.
