Stan Lee Sued for Copyright Infringement

Stan Lee has been sued for copyright infringement for his new upcoming comic Stan Lee's Super Seven by an action figure company named Super Seven. Representatives of Super Seven claim they had contacted Lee and his publishers (POW Entertainment, Archie Comics and A Squared Entertainment) but they went forward and announced a series of comics and television specials with the alleged infringing name anyway. Delayed Batwoman Arriving This November

The much anticipated Batwoman ongoing comic, a sequel to Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams III's acclaimed Batwoman Detective Comics storyline, will begin with Issue #0 this November. The comic was originally slated for this summer, but for scheduling reasons got put off until February 2011. Now DC has announced they will be bridging that gap with a very special issue illustrated by both Williams and Madame Xanadu artist Amy Reeder, who will take turns with Williams illustrating story arcs for the ongoing. Issue #0 will also feature the work of writing team of Williams himself and W. Haden Blackman, who will both return for the Batwoman series.

Read Comics In Public Day is August 28

On August 28th, the birthday of famed comics artist Jack Kirby, The Daily Crosshatch and comics creator Brian Heater have organized a comics fan pride day called International Read Comics In Public Day. Comic book readers are encouraged to spend about an hour on this day reading comic books in a visible public place to promote interest in comics and show solidarity with fellow comics fans in an act of mass visibility. The project has a dedicated site, ReadingComicsInPublic.com, which is already organizing meetups for fans in major cities who want to read comics in public together.

Inkwell Awards Open for Voting

The Inkwell Awards for excellence in comic book inking have opened for voting online. Voting will be open until September 15, and the awards will be given at this fall's Wizard World New England comics convention. This will be the award's third year. Comixology 2-Day Anniversary Sale

Digital comics retailing giant Comixology, which runs the digital comics apps for both DC and Marvel, has announced a two day 50% off sale on digital comics on August 18 & 19 to celebrate the one year anniversary of their digital comics store. An Apple device is not required to purchase or read digital comics from Comixology – they are also readable on any computer with a web browser and Flash capability. Zenescopes’ Charmed Sells Out; Last 'Wonderland' Hardcover

Charmed #1, the periodical comic based on the former WB TV series, has sold out its 17,000 copy first printing. Written by Paul Ruditis and Raven Gregory with pencils by Dave Hoover, the series follows the four supernaturally endowed Halliwell sisters who protect innocent mortals from demons, warlocks and the like while trying to maintain their lives as just normal girls. The company is going back to print and will have a new printing of issue #1 out before Charmed #2 goes on sale in about three week. Zenescope founder Joe Brusha also said house is releasing the final hardcover edition of its Escape from Wonderland trilogy, which includes issues 0-6 of the periodical series as well as a special issue #1 script book.
